From Dennis to Ian and Joanne

Three sets of hands have run this practice since 1953, and each has kept the same promise to the people of West Bromwich.

    Dennis Attewell opens his practice

    Dennis built Attewell Opticians into more than six practices across the West Midlands, including Stone Cross, Friar Park, Great Barr, Darlaston, Worcester and Birmingham.

  2. 1982

    Ian Hardwick joins, aged 18

    Ian started working for Dennis straight from school and learned the trade from the ground up.

  3. 2010

    The next generation of Attewells

    Dennis’s son Martin and his wife Helenmary took over and ran the practice until they retired in 2017.

  4. 2018

    Attewell & Hardwick Eyecare

    Ian and Joanne Hardwick took over and gave the practice its new name, keeping Dennis’s values at its heart. The High Street practice later merged into Stone Cross, so everything is now under one roof on Walsall Road.

    We keep reinvesting in the latest equipment and in training for the team, so high quality eyecare stays within reach of every family and every budget.
